I was starting to get seriously depressed about the bleak outlook for the health reform, but with the help of democrat representatives all over the country, Obama manages to drag the United States, kicking and screaming, into the 21st century.

A Jack of all Trades, a Master of Speed

So, this video came to my attention.

I think it is quite remarkable the sacrifices this guy makes to get this far in six minutes, like picking only a select array of colors to start out with, and some of the work-arounds he employs to overcome some of those limitations.

This guy has a Cintiq I'm sure. And loves it. And he draws incredibly fast. This video runs at around three times the work speed.

The base sketch of the lady is done within 10 seconds working with beige, thereafter 7 seconds are spent with black, then 6 seconds of red, 6 seconds of white for the skull, and the dragon is then created in about 25 seconds.

Except for blue, most of his colors are created through mixing and matching for the rest of the time. As any speed painter knows, the eye-dropper is much cheaper than the color-picker. It is hard to achieve good contrast this way though, and this guy does simply add some strategic black later on.

Of course, it is also evident that this entire picture is created with only one brush type, somewhat sacrificing greater structural variety, and edges are only stragicially sharpened at key points of interest, deftly fooling the casual observer.

Also, notice how the dolls are created using only colors in their immediate vicinity, as to spare greater hand movements. Masterfully thought out.
